The need in the Portland area is staggering… and growing. We hear the cry of these children and ache to respond. But we need your help!
This program will not exist without volunteers – all sorts of volunteers. You determine the time commitment and role that fits best for you.
Once you’re screened and approved, we’ll make sure you get the training you need.
Family Coaches : Coaches work directly with both host families and the placing parents to connect their needs with our team of Family Friends.
Host and Respite Families : Volunteer host families open up their home on a temporary basis (average of 6 weeks, but may extend up to a year or longer) to provide a safe place and loving atmosphere to children in crisis. Or step in to give a host family a break so they can run errands, shop, take a break, or even go on vacation. You can specify preferred age and the number of children you can accommodate.
Family Friends : Volunteers help by providing necessary resources for the host and biological families (material resources, meals, transportation, mentoring, and so much more).
Other Ways to Help : There are so many other ways you can help out. Just give us a call and we’ll help to match our needs with your areas of gifting.
To be a volunteer with Safe Families, we do request that you meet some basic criteria… for your safety and the safety of the families we care for. These requirements vary with the volunteer role, so please give us a call at (503) 906-1027 or send us an email.
